SEA FISHING (SHORE)

India’s large coastline provides a multitude of species that can be caught on Rod & Reel.

Species: Listed below are few commonly found species on the Indian coastline. Note: There will always be exceptions especially when anglers are targeting a particular species or when conditions dictate specialised tackle.

  • Mangrove Red Snapper aka Mangrove Jack
  • Malabar Grouper
  • Rawas (Indian Salmon)
  • Trevally (Various)
  • Barramundi
  • Rays

Tackle: Rods should be at least 9 – 10 long, rated for 30 lbs line with casting weights of at least 80 grams. Reels in the 4000 to 6000 size are suitable. Monofilament leaders of 20 – 40 lbs are recommended.

Lures: A variety of lures like spoons, plugs, poppers and jigs can be used for shore fishing. Soft lures are getting extremely popular due to the huge variety of lures available, affordable price and also ease of use.
